Has anyone ever planted peppers in 8" clay flower pots.  I have a 4" x 4" post with flower pot hangers on it, I would like to use it for peppers. My peppers never do any good planted in my garden area.  The only concern that I have is if the pot is deep enough for the roots.

My neighbor put 4 pepper plants in one 10" pot and all they did was grow green leaves , and the peppers didn't get any bigger than your thumb.

I know this is a late post but not knowing what type of peppers you're referring to, I put green bell peppers (2 to a container) in those big plastic tubs with the rope handles ($9-10? 2-pack) and got fantastic results. I got an average of 20 peppers per plant and was able to bring them in the garage during storms, etc. Drilled a few holes for drainage, used some of my own compost, covered soil with mulch and did great! Need 2 people or a dolly or cart to move. You could drag over wet grass if you had to. Someone with time, space and ingenuity could design these containers on a pallet or plywood frame on casters to bring in at night to deter deer and weather damage. Just food for thought. I like container gardening due to space and not wanting to tear up the lawn so any new ideas would be welcome.
