My question is what you like to see in our magazine in 2010. Dont sit on the sideline get involved...nothing gets anywhere if we dont speak out what we like to see and read..its like that if we dont ask we will never know. I do not want to read or see the same thing year after year...be more bold make it more intresting to all member readers young or old..male or female. We are a gardening community...lets see what you as a member want to see. Remember...every day is a good day...Juliana |

I'd like to see a little more meat in the articles. Give us some details about various plants, how and if they grow in various parts of the country, soil and water needs etc. Perhaps highlight some good nurseries etc.

I would like to see more uses for weeds. Like I did not know dandelions were eatable leaves in salads and flowers in teas etc.
I would also like to see information on grasses i.e. best types for zones etc. How to get rid of crabgrass without killing my good grass. How to kill centerpede grass without killing my good grass.
I would also like to see information on the controlling of sticker weeds like how to get rid of them fast verses pulling them all out by hand!
How to improve our soils.

I would love to read more ideas on geting kids involved with gardening. My 5 year old loves helping me build new gardens my 7year old pulls weeds in the vegtable garden and they both like to build fairy houses with me. right now we are building a large fairy complex so I guess I would love some fresh ideas. I am also changing a lot about my yard. It is very large with lots of steep slopes and no shade and no pivacy so I would like some new thoughts on out door garden rooms. |

"Ask Heloise" --- round table with various experts you might find the common ground or topics based upon time of year etc from these forums
1) houseplants care and feeding vacations child/ pet friendly propagation 2) decorating with plant materials - seasonal or making them durable herb/flower wreaths -- indoor and out - involve children/ groups decorating seasonally (Halloween - e.g. turn that tomato cage upside down and make a quick (lit) ghost(s) , Thanksgiving, Xmas and other .... Easter,.... Labor day, Independence) How to bring the indoor in 3) using plantings for decks/porches/offices 4) share a tip - use different categories ... home lawn ... home kitchen garden outdoor, indoor, different zones. ... composting - separate home, garden, apartment
Too much the mag seems to be merely a giant marketing tool for various companies and not really about gardening.

I liked the article about the blueberries.... what about other berry plants? Cold frame hints or tips, irragation possibilities, floating row covers, soil amendments was a good topic. The coneflowers were a nice addition, Groundcovers for shady or steep slopes? I like the companion planting idea, how big of a deal is crop rotation really? |

How about how to test your soil and what you need to do to correct problems in nutrients, soil consistancy, etc. |

I have no use whatsoever for plants that can't be consumed, so obviously I'd like to see more on fruits, veggies, growing herbs, especially indoors. Product and technique articles to let us know what others are doing to make their veggie gardens more efficient, those sorts of things. I read a dozen gardening/homesteading magazines, and it seems they all cover so many things that none cover well the things I want to know about. |
